The 7th guest




Computer games have come into one’s lives and have not been out of since the early ages of the nineteen sixties. Why is this? Mainly, because computer games have offered us a new time spending capacity and possibility. Therefore, people that are completely infatuated to their every day program will most certainly accept and embrace into their lives, the computer gaming industry.


If the first game ever made for computer use was the Spacewars, ever since the gaming industry developed a lot and has come to such possibilities, as to offer educational games and more serious games. however, the vast gaming public is made out of teenagers, therefore, the games that are most bought are the action ones, the ones that have a plot from the actual cartoons that the youngsters look at.

Computer games like the 7th guest was first time released in 1997 and produced by the Trilobyte Company. As long as we talk about the first on the list for certain purposes and things, the 7th Guest video game is the first ever game to be released only on CD-Rom. What about its plot? It deals with a horror story that is actually told from the view of the player, him being an amnesiac. The actual game designers are Rob Landeros and Graeme Devine and they made is in such a way as to work on platforms of MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows, CD-I and Mac OS. It is a single player game that has to be played by the aid of the keyboard and as well of the mouse.

The name of the 7th guestguest to a party given by a maniac, the evil character. The game has a number of 21 puzzles of varying difficulties that you have to solve.

The game consists in wondering around the mansion and solving puzzles and watching videos. There is a bad character, named Henry Stauf that makes it hard for the player when this one does not succeed in solving the puzzle, and that expresses displeasure when this one solves a puzzle. Stauf is a toy maker, who actually designed the toys – dolls that he dreamed at night. As his toy empire started to spread children purchasing those dolls started to die and no doctor whatsoever was capable of saving them. Acting upon his final vision, he created a storage house for him and his dolls. In your travels in solving the puzzle one will witness many arguments and scenes between the ghosts of the first six guests. They as well, are put to solve a mystery, and that is the identity of the 7th guest, which is you.

If one is attentive enough, one will be able to see that the name he has, comes from the Faust name. The characters names inside the game are Ego, Tod – the actual 7th guest, Martin Burden, Edward and Elinor Knox, Julia Heine, Brian Dutton and Hamilton Temple. In the game, there is the 3D and the animation graphics. The graphics that this game came with proved to be one of the most developed graphics used so far on game. This was provided by the fact that a CD-ROM had enough space on it to make this.<

Some other titles that the computer games like the 7th guest was released in are  “האורח השביעי” – in the Hebrew spelling; “T7G” – that comes from the  Abbreviated title ; “Guest” – while working on the game; “7th Guest for Windows 95” – the title used for the Windows re-release title.

After the success this game had, its producers had to release on the market a sequel of it, known under the name the 11th Hour. An official third part was intended to be created, the 7th Guest Part III: The Collector, but it was not released yet. Anyhow, the Trilobyte took it into their hands to release a compilation game made of the puzzle from three different games – The 7th Guest, The 11th Hour and Clandestiny. This compilation is selling under the name of Uncle Henry’s Playhouse, in case you may be interested.
