Even though, many people actually have a computer device at home, or even more such devices, not so many play games on computer. Despite of this fact, there is plenty to which the game world addresses to. Therefore, the computer games world, that has begun its development since the early ages in 1940s is still existing nowadays, and it is actually making more “victims” than at first proposed to.


A video game is an electronic game that interacts with another user interface, in order to create visual feedback on device. While traditionally this word referred to a device external to another, as they were used to be played on a play station or a console, then, the play games on computer came out on the market. The computer games have the possibility of reproducing sounds, speakers and headphones. The first commercially sold game ever was in 1971 and it was created by Noland Bushell and Ted Dabney. While they believed a console would be suitable to play this game one, in 1972 the first home console, Magnavox Odyssey was released.

Anyhow, in order to play computer games on computer that you like most, one will have to choose between different genres, therefore one has to choose between the methods of game play, the art style, and as technology has evolved so did the genres used to play games on. One can distinguish between core games, casual games, serious games and educational ones. The first ones are characterized by intensity and depth of play. They usually include games of a wide spectrum of genres. As they usually are considered more demanding they are not meant to be used by the casual gamer, but for professional one.

The casual games, take the name from simple to use games, from accessible ones and easy rules to understand ones. At the beginnings the term was used to characterize games such as Solitaire and Tetris. These usually come by default in any of the Microsoft Windows versions. These are usually played on home based computers and on cell phones, as they do not require certain knowledge of use.

Serious games are those mean to mean something and to teach something to the players. They are made out of more than just simple entertaining purposes. They are however, representative for educational games, exergames, propaganda ones. Apart from being educational they can as well have a military purpose, political views on a certain subject, etc.

The educational games is a genre that was elaborated in late 2009, since the President of the United States, Obama, wanted to create something more educational in the technological field. Therefore he launched a campaign known under the name “educate to innovate”.  This campaign has stimulated a lot of educational competitions.

As for the cheating part in the computer games, one must know that it is actually possible to cheat in any game, whatsoever. As one desires to do so, one will have to know some cheating codes, so that they can get into the games “mind”.

Apart from just the entertaining and learning purposes of the video games, they can as well be good for medical issues. Therefore, one can become more sensitive to information and can as well develop the ability of a peripheral vision. The reason for which, those that actually play quite often the computer games, become more attentive, more concentrated to what they do in their daily lives, is that they develop their concentration by making it a thing in itself while playing. One must have a very good concentration capacity in order to be able to seize all that is going on into a game.

Playing games is both interactive and fun and educational, but one should be attentive of not creating his “world” around the games.
