After what we all know, the history tends to repeat itself, an easy to identify thing in video games. The most popular have sequel and are unlimited, and the classical titles are reanimated by producers who hope to bring big earnings from the name. The Midway company is one of those which have drained all the created series with their best, but reviving the Spy Hunter computer game looks more like a very good achievement rather than a way to get rich faster, managing to bring this classical driving and shooting game into the era of current digital games, without losing the original charm.

The story from this game is running like an untold one in which the main character is James Bond, entering under the skin of a super spy which is fighting against a known organization named Nostra and which is conspiring to capture the planet’s energy. You will go on the road with the G-6155 Interceptor and you will travel all over the world, from the channels from Venice and the German autobahn to the Panama channel.

The main mechanics of the game has remained intact – you can still drive on impressive distances in order to blow up any enemy car you meet, using smoke, oil leaks, guns mounted on the body of the car, rocket and fire launchers, etc. The interceptor is a very impressive car, your character being provided with ability to change the car into a boat and back with a simple touch of a button. In case it has suffered serious damage, the car will get rid of the additional weight, leaving you a motorcycle or a jet ski, depending on the environment which is working on.

Resuming the action from the point where it has been left in the previous game, Spy Hunter 2 will find you a good name for your character (Alec Sects), adding a feminine help, and also a new and more powerful car, as expected. In this new version, you continue to follow Nostra, an evil organization (being spread like in James Bond movies), although its plan to rule the world is more vague this time. The story is wrapped in mystery, you are provided with small clues in the short previews before loading the missions.

This thing is not in the game’s detriment, because the experienced players can confirm: not even in Spy Hunter – the first version – the story was not loaded with too many details. In its essence, the objectives are simple: you must shoot the enemies, and in the same time try to stay alive. Mainly, the objectives structure remains approximately the same, although in Spy Hunter 2 there are variations and interventions which are default for modern games. There are missions in which you must reach from a point to another without suffering wounds or other damage from the fire exchange, these missions usually are the most challenging and entertaining. There are also defend missions, for example one of them is placing you into a port, where you must defend a giant oil tanker; also are appearing escorting missions, in which you must ensure your ride in safe conditions of a neutral vehicle; there are also the fights with the bosses, where you will face large vehicles and much better armed which you will have to knock out. These missions in whom you will have to engage in boss fights can be the most entertaining.
