Assembling A Gaming Pc
Published by TheChallengeBase, on Sep 01 2010, in the categories: gaming computer
And for today we’ll give you some advices on assembling a gaming PC. The first feature that you need to consider is the “heart” of any computer or PC, and this is of course the processor. For quite a long time the Intel Core 2 Duo was the most popular and the best on the market, but today there are some models that are even better. These are the Intel Core i3, the Intel Core i5 and the best one – the Intel Core i7. Each one of these three will support intensive video gaming, so you can choose any of them.

But of course the i5 and the i7 are better, and they will last for a longer period of time, without having to be replaced by a new and better model. the next feature to consider would be the RAM memory, and for the complex video games of our days you will need to have at least 2 GB. But having 4 GB or even more would be much better. Since the video games of our time are really big, and they can occupy a few GB of disc space, you will definitely need a large hard drive to store as many as possible. One of 320 GB can be just good, but a bigger one of 500 GB or more is recommended if you have many large games, as well as other files (movies, music, pictures, documents etc).
You can’t enjoy the advanced graphic of the video games without having a big display screen and a powerful graphics card. You can choose any display screen you want, as long as it has more than 19 inch in diagonal. For the graphics card you can choose one from NVIDIA or from ATI, and be careful to have a good video memory of at least 1 GB. So these were the main features to consider when assembling a gaming PC , but of course there are some more. In order to copy and install the video games you also need an optical drive, and the best one on the market right now is an optical drive with Blu-ray support.

But a Multiformat DVD ± RW/ CD-RW drive with double-layer support (that can record up to 8.5 GB of data on a single DVD) would be just good. If you are a really enthusiast gamer, you will also need some gaming accessories such as: a steering wheel, a joystick, a gaming mouse, a gaming keyboard, a gaming chair or who knows what other accessory you might find. And least, but not last…to have a great gaming experience you also need a great sound. And the best system for gaming would be a surround sound system (a 5.1 system or a 7.1 system).
So these were all the things that you need to consider when buying a gaming PC. In case we missed something, tell us about it. And also tell us about the gaming computers that you already have, and the video games that you like to play. Have a nice day!

Published by TheChallengeBase, on Aug 31 2010, in the categories: gaming computer

And you can do this thanks to the HDMI port found on this laptop.

The sound offered by this model is not the best one possible, and it has just 2 built in speakers of 2 W each, with SRS Premium Sound. If buying it from Best Buy it comes with an installed version of the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64 bit operating system and some other installed programs. So you can use it right after you buy it from the store. And finally this laptop is also Energy Star qualified, which means that it meets strict energy efficiency rules and uses less energy.
This was just one example of a good gaming laptop under 1000 $ , but of course there are many more other models. So in case you too are a big fan of video gaming, and you have a laptop that cost you under 1000 dollars, we invite you to tell us more about it and about the features it has. And of course, also tell us about the video games you like, and which can be played on laptops and which can not. Have a nice day!
Good Gaming Computers
Published by TheChallengeBase, on Aug 31 2010, in the categories: gaming computer
There are many good gaming computers on the market, and you can find a top ten of the best gaming PC-s of 2010 here on this site. As you can notice all of these computers are really powerful, but they also have really big prices. 9 out of 10 cost more than 1,000 dollars and the most expensive one has an amazing price of 4,500 dollars. But there is one exception though, and this is the CyberPower PC Mega Special 1, which has a price of just 825 dollars. It may not be really cheap, but it is definitely much more affordable than the other models. This model comes with one of the best graphics cards on the market, and it will handle just about any game you want to play.

Even though it doesn’t have a very big RAM memory like the Alienware Area-51 ALX or the iBUYPOWER Paladin F875, it has a powerful processor and a liquid cooled CPU to keep everything cool while you are under fire. And it even has a Blu-ray compatible optical drive to keep you entertained when you are not playing complex video games.
The CyberPower PC Mega Special 1 has an ATI Radeon HD 5870 video card which as the same as on the Alienware Area 51 ALX PC, which has a much bigger price of 4,000 dollars. So you might wonder how it is possible to have the same video card on a computer of 4,000 dollars as well as one of 800 dollars. Actually there is a difference between the two of them, and the one from the Alienware PC has 2 GB of video memory. The other one has 1 GB, but this is quite enough for you to enjoy the video games at a really good quality. The sound card supports 7.1 channel audio so that you can enjoy the dialogues, the music and all the sound effects from all angles. But for this you will need to buy a separate surround sound system of course. This computer comes with the unique AMD Phenom II X 6 processor, which will run really smooth even when doing the most demanding tasks. It has a speed of 2.8 Ghz which is enough for a good High Definition entertainment.

The liquid cooled system for the processor offers cool, whisper quiet operation. Since this is a cheaper gaming computer you won’t get 6 or more GB of RAM memory like on other models, but you will get 4 GB DDR 3 RAM. This memory can also be expanded, but in runs only in dual channel mode. For you to be able to store as many large video games as possible, along with other files such as music, videos, pictures etc, you will definitely need a large hard drive. And this PC has just what you need, and it offers a 1 TB hard disc (this means 1,000 GB).
A distinctive feature of this good gaming computer is the cool blue Gigabyte GA 790 XTA UD4 motherboard. It has a high speed data transfer and it is powered by a 750 watt power supply, to make sure that everything runs smooth. Besides this, the computer has 3 high speed 3.0 USB ports.
So after all the CyberPower PC Mega Special 1 gaming computer can be a really good choice for those who are not willing to spend thousands of dollars for a computer. The downsides of this model will not even be visible to the average game and it has enough power, processing speed and memory to keep everything running smooth on almost every video game that you might play. Even though you might have to add a few updates to the basic version, you will still end up much cheaper than other gaming computers. So after all the CyberPower PC Mega Special 1 has a great value. Enjoy it!
So here was just a review of a good gaming computer, but of course there are many more other models on the market, from many producers. In case you know some other similar models that are really good, and also not very expensive, tell us more about them. And also tell us all about your favorite video games. have a great day!
Build A Gaming Computer
Published by TheChallengeBase, on Aug 31 2010, in the categories: gaming computer
Today there are many good gaming computers on the market, but they are also really expensive. For example the best ones (those made by the company Alienware) can cost up to 2,000 dollars or even more. So in case you are a really big fan of video gaming, but you don’t wish to spend so much money for a powerful computer then you can build your own gaming computer. Of course we don’t mean to make it by yourself, but you can go to a computer’s store, and choose each component individually so that it can fit your necessities.

So for now we’ll give you some advices on what components to focus on if you wish to built a powerful gaming computer. And we’ll begin with the “heart” of any computer or laptop, which is the processor. The Intel Core 2 Duo used to be the best and most popular on the market, but today better processors had taken its place.
And these are the Intel Core i3, the Intel Core i5 and the best one – the Intel Core i7. Of course the Intel Core i7 is also the most expensive, but even the Intel Core i3 can be really good for video games. The next feature to consider would be the RAM memory. To enjoy the video games at their best capacity you will need at least 2 GB, but to be sure you don’t have any problems it is recommended to have at least 4 GB (and you can go as high as you want, some computers having space for many RAM memory cards).
As we mentioned earlier, the video games of our days occupy a few GB of disc space, so this mean you will definitely need a large hard drive in order to store as many as possible. For the true gamers that play all the new video games from the market, 160 GB of disc space won’t be enough, and they will need 320 GB or even more. But after all this depends on your preferences and on your budget. If you don’t have such a big budget you can just choose a smaller hard drive, and play just a few video games at a time, then delete them and install some new ones…and so on.

As you may know, the video games of our days have outstanding graphics and in order to enjoy them you will need two elements. The first one is of course the display screen. We recommend a good LCD screen with at least 20 inch in diagonal for enjoying each and every detail of the video game. But the display screen won’t show the best details without a good graphics card on your computer. So here you can buy a good NVIDIA or ATI card with at least 1 GB of dedicated video memory. And this way you can enjoy the great graphic of the video games made these days.
So these were the basic features needed for a good gaming computer. But this is not all, and of course there are some other things to consider. For example the sound. Besides a complex graphic the games also have complex sounds, with all sorts of effects, explosions, gun shots and so on. And to be able to enjoy them at their best quality, you need to have a surround sound system. In order to copy the games that you just bought of course you also need an optical drive, and it is good to have a Multiformat DVD ± RW / CD-RW drive with double layer support that can record up to 8.5 GB of data on a single DVD. And it would be even better to have one with Blu-ray support, so that you can also watch High Definition movies. But the first one we mentioned can be just good. In case you are a really passionate gamer, you will need some gaming accessories such as a gaming mouse, a gaming keyboard, a gaming chair, a steering wheel, a joystick and so on. But these are not crucial components, and you do just fine without them. This is something that each gamer decides, according to his passion for video gaming and according to his budget.
So here were some advices on what features to look for when making a powerful gaming computer. If we missed something please remind us of that. And also tell us more about what gaming computer you have, which are the features it has, and also which video games you played and you liked so far. Have a nice day!
Gaming Desktop Computers
Published by TheChallengeBase, on Aug 27 2010, in the categories: gaming computer
For example if you wish to get a new graphics card for your PC you can do this and replace the old one, but you can’t do the same on a laptop. On a PC you can also expand the RAM memory, the hard drive, get a new processor, and you can practically replace any component…while at a laptop you can’t replace anything.

So for today we’ll discuss more about two gaming desktop computers and we’ll make a comparison between them. We’ll choose a model from the famous Alienware company, a company which is specialized in producing computers and laptops for video gaming, and one from another big and famous company – HP. From Alienware we are going to choose the Alienware – Area 51 Desktop with Intel ® Core ™ i7 Processor - Cosmic Black, Model: A 51 – 2443 CSB which has a big price of 2,100 dollars at Best Buy and from HP the HP - Pavilion Elite Desktop / Intel ® Core ™ i7 Processor / 8 GB Memory / 1 TB Hard Drive, Model: HPE – 270 f . This one costs much less than the Alienware laptop, and has a price of 1,300 dollars. And as you will see now in the technical details for both models, the cheaper model from HP is as good as the other one.
So let’s begin with the Alienware computer. it comes with the best processor on the market right now, the Intel ® Core ™ i7 - 920 processor which features an 8 MB cache and 2.66 GHz processor speed, and it has a really good RAM memory of 6 GB DDR 3 (which can be expanded up to 12 GB). The optical drive is a Multiformat DVD ± RW / CD RW drive, while the hard drive is a 1.2 TB Serial ATA II hard drive (with a speed of 7200 rpm). In case you don’t know how much 1.2 TB means, we’ll tell you. It means that it has a capacity of 1,200 GB, which is very much. So you will be able to store hundreds of large games, movies, programs, music and so on. A powerful gaming computer will definitely need a good graphics engine too, so this one has the ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics which features 1024 MB video memory and DirectX 11 capability. It also has High Definition 7.1 channel audio support, for a great audio quality. It comes with 9 high speed USB ports and 2 IEEE 1394 FireWire interfaces. It also has built in 10 / 100 / 1000 Ethernet LAN for easy access to the internet and comes with an installed version of the Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64 bit operating system.

So here were the most important features for the Alienware computer, and now let’s look at the ones for the HP computer. Even though it is much more cheaper, it also has the best processor, the Intel ® Core ™ i7 - 930 processor which features a 1 MB L2 cache + 8 MB shared L 3 cache and 2.8 GHz processor speed. And the RAM memory is actually much better – it comes with 8 GB PC3 8500 DDR 3 SDRAM as default, and this memory can be expanded up to 24 GB. The optical drive for this PC is also better, and it has a Blu-ray Disc enabled DVD ± RW / CD RW drive which features read support for Blu-ray Disc and also double layer support using compatible DVD + R DL and DVD - R DL media. The capacity of the hard drive of this computer is just a little smaller than the one from the Alienware PC, but it is still really big. It has a capacity of 1 TB (1,000 GB). The graphics engine is quite similar, and it has the ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics which features 1 GB of video memory for lush images. To offer you a great audio quality, this computer also has High Definition audio support with 7.1 channel surround sound capability. But of course, you will need to buy the surround sound system separately.
This PC also has a HDMI port, so that you can connect it to a High Definition TV, and enjoy movies and video games at a great video quality. It also has a 15 in 1 media card reader with support for SmartMedia, xD-Picture Card, MultiMediaCard, Secure Digital, miniSD, CompactFlash I, CompactFlash II, Microdrive, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo formats. It may not have 9 USB ports, but it has 7 of them, and this can be quite enough. And it also features one IEEE 1394 Fire Wire interface. This computer has built in 10 / 100 / 1000 Base-T Ethernet LAN too, but it also has built in wireless LAN (802.11 a / b / g / n) for easy access to the internet. And finally it also comes with a version of the Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64 bit operating system and some other programs such as: HP MediaSmart Software Suite, Cyberlink DVD Suite Premium, Microsoft Works 9.0 and more.
As a conclusion the HP gaming desktop computer is much cheaper than the model from Alienware, and it has similar features. Actually some of its features are even better than the ones from the computer of 2,000 dollars. So from these 2 models, we definitely recommend the one made by HP. In case you own one of these powerful and expensive desktop computers, we invite you to tell us all your opinions about them, and also tell us which video games you played so far on them. Have a great day!
Gaming Desktops

It is known that the Alienware laptops and computers are the best on the market for video gaming, so for today we’ll present a model made by this company. And we are going to choose the Alienware - Desktop / Intel ® Core ™ i7 Processor / 6 GB Memory / 1 TB Hard Drive, Model: AAR 2 – 2618 CSB. Like any other product of Alienware, this is really expensive (it costs 1,600 dollars at Best Buy) but it is also really good. For example it has the best processor on the market right now, the Intel ® Core ™ i7 - 860 processor which features an 8 MB cache and 2.8 GHz processor speed with Turbo Boost up to 3.46 GHz. The RAM memory is also really good, and it comes with 6 GB DDR 2 SDRAM as default, and it can be expanded up to 16 GB.

So this is the great thing about having a desktop computer – that you can always upgrade it when necessary. But a laptop usually can’t be upgraded, so when you need more powerful features your only choice would be to buy a new laptop. the optical drive for this computer is really good too, and it is a Multiformat DVD ± RW/ CD-RW drive with double-layer support, that can record up to 8.5 GB of data on a single DVD.
In order to store a lot of large and complex video games you will definitely need a large hard drive, and this one has a capacity of 1 TB. In case you don’;t know what this means…it means 1,000 GB. So it is a really big capacity, and you can store all sorts of files, from video games to High Definition movies.
The speed for the hard drive is 7200 rpm. You will need to buy a separate display screen for this powerful computer, but the video quality won’t be good enough without a powerful graphics engine. So this computer has the ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics which features up to 1 GB discrete video memory for intense imagery. It also has integrated audio with 7.1 channel support and 8 high speed USB ports. Besides this it also has 2 IEE 1394 ports and built in ethernet LAN for easy access to the internet. Most of the producers allow their clients to customize the laptop they want to have, offering them many options to choose from, in order to make the perfect laptop for their needs. So in case you want to make yourself a custom gaming laptop, here are some things that you should consider. First of all you will need to focus on the processor. This is practically the “heart” of any computer or laptop, so it needs to be really good to support intensive video gaming. In the last few months the Intel Core 2 Duo was the most popular processor on the market for laptops, but lately Intel came up with new and improved models.

These are the Intel Core i3, the Intel Core i5 and the Intel Core i7. And of course, the last one is the better one and also the most expensive. Even an Intel Core i3 can be really good for video games, but if you have the i5 or the i7 that will be even better. The next thing you need to consider is the RAM memory. Many video games can work just fine with 1 GB of RAM DDR 3 , but in order to enjoy the games at their best capacity, it will be recommended to have at least 2 GB and 4 GB DDR 3 will be perfect. Since the video games of our days are really complex, they also take a lot of hard drive space. So in order to be able to store as many large video games as possible, you will need to have a large hard disk. One with 160 GB can be quite ok, one with 320 GB is great but one with 500 GB or even more will be perfect.

If you are looking for a custom gaming laptop you don’t need to focus on having a small and light laptop, because this will make you lose the benefits of having a large display screen. And a large screen usually means a great video quality, so this is what you need to look for at a gaming laptop. One with a screen of 17 inch will be really good, but if you choose one with a screen of 20 inch or more will be amazing for the video quality. And a great video quality is not possible without a good graphics card, so you will need to focus on this one too. If you want to play complex video games stay away from the Intel GMA graphics cards with shared video memory, and look for an NVIDIA (or something similar) with dedicated video memory. A graphics card with 1 GB of dedicated video memory will be really good.
It is known that the touchpad devices can be really annoying, and they will definitely not work for playing video games. So you will need to buy a laptop mouse. You can buy just a regular one and it will be ok, but if you are really crazy about video gaming, then you should buy a gaming mouse. These devices have many more features than a simple mouse, which can be really useful for intensive video gaming.
So these were the features that you need to consider when buying a laptop that will be mostly used for playing video games. In case we missed any feature, please tell us about it. Also tell us what kind of laptop you are using for video games, and which video games you like to play. Have a nice day!
