14th november national gaming

Games have been on the market for over three decades now, and they have been eagerly used by a wide range of people. If at first there were just those games that were characterized by war and violence and therefore were provided just to those that had this as a hobby. Anyhow, they developed along the years, and gaming did not represent just a way of fun, but many other principles were granted to gaming.

These are educational, relaxing, brain developing, entertaining, sports, and many more. However as they have come to almost take over all our lives as they have entered in the parents ground, in the working ground, in the everyday life, in the school programming system, in the slots industry etc. Therefore, it captured a wide variety of industries and it is evolving continuously. By this national day, libraries celebrate video games, board games, and take a break from the culture wars that pit gaming against educators and parents.

As it has proved to be such a large system the national gaming day was decided to be held on 14th November each year. For the first national gaming day all the libraries across the country gathered together to celebrate gaming. Therefore a statistic was made in order to see how big will the participation will be – number of libraries registered to participate – 1,365, the  number of libraries that submitted # of players for NGD activities – 549 a total number of players for NGD activities -31,296, number of libraries that announce to be participating in the national Super Smash Bros Brawl tournament (simultaneous) equals with 42, the number of libraries in the national Rock Band High Score tournament is of 14 and the number of non-US libraries that participated is of  2 and these are from Canada and  Japan.

Even though usually it is a hard thing to get boys in the libraries, the national gaming day, proved that boys could actually be brought into the libraries, under the correct circumstances, that is in the second celebration of the national gaming day, that was as well held in libraries, boys, were actually waiting outside the library to open. That is because they came for the Wii bowling tournament.

During the entire National Gaming Day, public, school, and academic libraries will participate in two national events. The first is an establishment of a record for the biggest number of people playing the board game “Pictureka!” on the same day at the library and another event is that a national video game tournament via the web will be held. . Players of all ages and experience levels will be able to see how they rank on local, regional and national places.

The sustainability of this national day is provided by the help of different investors and people that believe in the good results that this “holiday” will eventually have.  It is a thing held in the libraries as they are so much more than just books, libraries work very hard to provide people of all ages with a rich and current menu. Featuring this new gaming media helps the library expand its reach while meeting community expectations.

Rather than playing video games in the comfort of your house and you will be alone, not every friends whatsoever around you, you will lose the contact with the friends, playing them at libraries will provide kids with the possibility of socialize with their friends and play video games while surrounded by books, librarians, and knowledge. The games that the libraries provide children with, are considered to be “family friendly. In playing games on the library shop kids learn to work hard to succeed and ‘level up’, to develop new strategies, manage multiple resources, read maps, and as well adapt to difficult levels within the game.

Therefore, gaming has proved itself along the years.

I find it so cool that there is a national gaming day. I never imagined that libraries would actually take this sort of initiative. Boys will finally go to libraries, I couldn’t have said it better myself. It is so cool to be able to share your gaming experience with people which are passionate about the same things as you are. I know that this can also be done online but you can finally meet face to face people that share the same passions as you do. I totally support this initiative and since we have national and international days for a lot of other things which I find useless, I am happy to pass the world around about the national gaming day.
